2026 Fantasy Outlook
An exclusive rights free agent, Johannes will remain in New York if the Liberty extend her a qualifying offer. If that's the case, Johannes should remain in a reserve role, as Sabrina Ionescu, Breanna Stewart and Jonquel Jones are all expected to sign lucrative deals to return as the team's core. Johannes appeared in a career-high 44 games last year (five starts), but she averaged under 20 minutes per game for the third time in four years. When handed an expanded role, Johannes has shown the ability to be a solid fantasy contributor, but she's yet to consistently play major minutes. When she saw at least 22 minutes in 2025 (12 games), Johannes posted 10.5 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.3 stocks. The best thing for her fantasy value would likely be to sign elsewhere, but given her talents, New York will want to keep her around as a depth piece for a championship contender. Read Past Outlooks
Receives qualifying offer
The Liberty extended a reserved qualifying offer to Johannes on Tuesday, Madeline Kenney of the New York Post reports.
ANALYSIS
After sitting out the 2024 WNBA season, Johannes returned to the Liberty in 2025, averaging 18.3 minutes over 44 appearances (five starts). With the move, the Liberty have exclusive negotiating rights with Johannes ahead of 2026.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2025
2023
2022
Johannes sat out the 2024 WNBA season due to the league's prioritization rule, but she re-signed with the Liberty ahead of the 2025 campaign and appears poised to return to the WNBA following her year overseas. Johannes made 59 regular-season appearances (15 starts) with New York between the 2022 and 2023 seasons, averaging 8.6 points, 2.5 assists and 1.5 rebounds in 22.2 minutes per game. She'll presumably come off the bench to begin the 2025 campaign, as the team should start Sabrina Ionescu and Natasha Cloud in the backcourt, but minutes should be available off the bench since Betnijah Laney-Hamilton is slated to miss most of the year due to a knee injury. Johannes and Ivana Dojkic will presumably compete for reserve minutes, and it wouldn't be surprising to see Johannes emerge as the No. 3 guard given her previous role with the team.
