Brunson announced her retirement from professional basketball Tuesday. She'll transition to a coaching career, joining the Lynx staff for the 2020 season.

Brunson's playing days already looked to be over after she didn't see any WNBA action in 2019, but the 38-year-old will now officially step away from the game as one of the winningest players in league annals. Over her 15-season career, Brunson claimed five WNBA titles and made a record 34 WNBA Finals appearances. During 453 career regular-season contests, she averaged 9.2 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. The Lynx plan to retire her No. 32 jersey at the Target Center at some point during the summer.
