All-Star coverage

Anyone else frustrated by Fox's coverage of the All-Star Game? First there's the late start (8:30 PM EST), which ensures that when the game goes extra innings, there will be few fans around at the end. Last night's game had some of the most exciting moments of any ASG in memory, yet the crowd was mostly gone. There's also Fox's habit of running ads right up until the first pitch of an inning, which seems a shameless attempts to squeeze every last advertising dollar possible. Fox also endlessly promotes its own slate of violent shows, many of which are inappropriate for young children. Lastly, Tom Glavine said in a recent article that the union agreed to the ASG deciding the home-field advantage because of the network: ďIím not a big fan of the home-field advantage thing. I donít think most players are. I just think that in an effort to continue the goodwill that was going on between the players and the owners, this is something that we agreed to do because Fox really wanted it." Anyone remember how long Fox has been covering the game? Did ABC do it before them?

Comments....

Fox being incredibly annoying with baseball coverage - not a new thing. Don't they make you want to throw things at the set every October?

I listened to Dan Shulman do an inning in the car. A shame he can't be our national voice.

I'd pay a lot of money to see a cagefight between Randy Moss and Joe Buck.

I was ticked Fox went to commercial with Mariano Rivera only what, a quarter of the way to the mound? That was a nice moment.
