Ramires was held out of Saturday's Premier League match against Crystal Palace due to his groin injury, and he will not play in Tuesday's Champions League match against Maribor, manager Jose Mourinho said Saturday.

Ramires picked up a groin strain back on Sept. 21 against Manchester City and he's been unable to play since. Mourinho intimated that he would be able to return after the international break, but that hasn't happened yet. With Tuesday too soon for a return, his next opportunity comes Oct. 26 against Manchester United.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho confirmed Friday that Ramires has been ruled out of Saturday's Premier League match as well as their next two matches due to a groin injury. "It's a muscular injury, he won't be able to play Tuesday (against Sporting Lisbon) or even against Arsenal. He needs the two-week international break (to recover), maybe he will be back after that."

Despite playing more on the defensive side of things, Ramires has still managed to score one goal and assist on three others in only four appearances. Unfortunately, he will now not play again for possibly up to a month, crushing his value in daily leagues for the time being.

Ramires has been ruled out of Chelsea's Capital One Cup match against Bolton on Wednesday due to the groin strain he picked up last Sunday against Manchester City.

Despite being subbed off in the second half of Sunday's match, the injury is not considered serious and Ramires has a shot to return as soon as Saturday against Aston Villa. The Brazilian has been very impressive this season, scoring one goal and assisting on three others in four appearances, surprising statistics given that he usually plays more defensively in manager Jose Mourinho's system.

Ramires came on for Andre Schurrle at halftime and picked up an assist on the last of Diego Costa's three goals during Chelsea's 4-2 win over Swansea City on Saturday.

Ramires has been in remarkable form of late, posting one goal and three assists in his last two Premier League matches. Manager Jose Mourinho is still using a number of different players in his starting XI, which makes relying on Ramires for fantasy purposes a bit tough given the inconsistent playing time.

Ramires had a goal and two assists during Chelsea's 6-3 rout of Everton on Saturday.

As a defensive midfielder, this output was extremely surprising from Ramires. Coincidentally, Nemanja Matic, who also plays more defensively, had a goal and an assist himself. Fantasy players are advised not to go too crazy on Ramires, as he has now matched his goal and assist production from last season.

Ramires, who missed Chelsea's Premier League opener on Monday due to a four-match ban stemming from last season, came on for Andre Schurrle in the 64th minute of Chelsea's 2-0 win over Leicester on Saturday.

Ramires is primarily a defensive midfielder and he lacks touch around the goal, which keeps him from being a reasonable fantasy producer.

Ramires returned to light training Monday after a break following the World Cup.

Ramires, who is suspended for the season-opener against Burnley on Aug. 16 due to a violent conduct charge stemming from last season, will have to fight for a spot in the starting XI this season, although he's not much of an offensive player anyway, which limits his fantasy upside.

Ramires is in the starting XI in place of Hulk (hamstring) for Brazil's World Cup match against Mexico on Tuesday, FIFA.com reports.

Hulk downplayed the injury in the previous days, but it's clearly enough to keep him limited. Ramires isn't nearly the offensive threat that Hulk is, so it's tough to expect significant fantasy production from the Chelsea midfielder.
