Lovren was not included in the group for the Europa League clash with Rubin on Thursday.

The defender has returned to training and was expected to take part in the game. Keep an eye on his progress but expect him to be available off the bench on Sunday. Even when fully healthy, though, it will be hard to say if he’ll be featuring regularly under the new management.

Lovren documented six clean sheets over 26 Premier League appearances during the 2014-15 season.

Lovren dealt with both groin and abdominal injuries that limited his availability over the course of the season but he was still able to make the third-most starts of Liverpool defenders with 22, behind Alberto Moreno (26) and Martin Skrtel (33). The 25-year-old is under contract for four more years at Anfield and is expected to see significant time in the starting XI next season as well.
