RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Giaccherini is expected to miss three weeks of action due to a thigh injury, Football Italia reports.

This is not good news for Bologna, which has struggled at the start of the season and can't afford to be without any key players.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Giaccherini joined Serie A side Bologna on Monday on a season-long loan.

Giaccherini was finding playing time very tough to come by this season, so he'll head to Italy to get more first-team touches, though it's unclear what will happen after the season.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Giaccherini is expected to be available Saturday against Leicester City after recovering from an ankle injury, the Newcastle Chronicle reports.

Giaccherini has missed three months due to the ailment, and given the long layoff, it's unlikely he gets a start, particularly with how well Jermain Defoe and Connor Wickham are playing up front.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Giaccherini picked up a knock to his ankle during Sunderland's scoreless draw with Burnley on Saturday, though manager Gus Poyet relayed that it may not be serious. "I think it is less than what we thought, it looked bad because he cleared the ball and had a tackle on his ankle, but he was telling me in the dressing room that he doesn't think it is bad," Poyet said.

Will Buckley came on for Giaccherini in the 73rd minute after he suffered the injury. Even if the injury is not serious, Giaccherini will not likely play in Tuesday's Capital One Cup match against Stoke City, but may be available next Saturday against Swansea if his ankle responds to treatment.

Giaccherini came on in the 69th minute for Jack Rodwell and got off two shots on goal in the 0-1 loss to QPR Saturday

Giaccherini looked good Saturday in his short appearance and may have earned more playing time. Look for Giaccherini to possibly get a rare start in their next matchup against Tottenham.

Giaccherini won't be able to play in Sunderland's opener due to a groin injury that he suffered against Real Betis on Thursday, the Daily Mail reports.

Giaccherini will have to wait until Aug. 24 to make his 2014-15 EPL season debut against Manchester United. He was able to score five goals last season during his first year with Sunderland.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Giaccherini had a goal and an assist in Sunderland's surprising 4-0 win over Cardiff City on Sunday.

Sunderland have scored eight goals in their last three games, and Giaccherini has one goal and three assists in that span, all while playing fewer than 30 minutes in each match. He's been a great spark off the bench and will be needed in next weekend's tie with Manchester Untied at Old Trafford.
