Sadly, Acerbi's battle with testicular cancer isn't over. Doctor's found that the treatment he underwent after surgery to remove his cancerous tumor wasn't enough to send the cancer into remission, Football Italia reports. Apparently, the tumor was only removed and Acerbi did not take any sort of medication following the surgery. The hormone levels altered by the return of his cancerous tumor set off red flags during an anti-doping test in December. As a result, the Sassuolo footballer is still suspended.
This is a highly unfortunate set of circumstances for Acerbi. He's certain to be exonerated of the alleged doping charges against him, however, he must begin treatment for his illness immediately. It's uncertain what Acerbi's future holds for himself and his fantasy owners alike.
