Liverpool are expected to offer Flanagan a new contract this summer to reward the defender for his contribution and progress with the club this season, according to the Daily Mail.

Flanagan was an influencer in Sunday's victory over Manchester United. Performances like that have earned him the new agreement. The defender has 12 months remaining on his current contract.

Flanagan (hamstring) came on in the 73rd minute of Liverpool's FA Cup match against Bournemouth on Saturday.

Flanagan had missed more than a month due to his hamstring concern, but he was fit enough to feature off the bench Saturday. With that time under his belt, he should be good to go for Tuesday's Merseyside derby.

Flanagan, who did not play Thursday against Manchester City, could miss a number of weeks due to the hamstring injury he sustained against Cardiff City last weekend, the Liverpool Echo reports. Manager Brendan Rodgers said "it looks like he will be out for a number of weeks with a strain."

It's very tough timing for Liverpool, who face Chelsea this weekend and then Hull City on New Year's Day. The 20-year old has been playing very well of late, with six consecutive starts under his belt heading into Thursday.

Flanagan faces a late fitness test for Thursday's match against Manchester City, after injuring his hamstring in last weekend's match against Cardiff City, Goal.com reports. Manager Brendan Rodgers said "leading into the game against Cardiff [Flanagan] had a tight hamstring for a few days. He was fit enough to start and play; he felt it a little bit in the game so obviously we had to take him off."

Flanagan has started every match for Liverpool since Jose Enrique went down with his knee injury, and the 20-year old has responded with one goal, while helping out with one clean sheet.
