Mascherano started Saturday's La Liga match against Athletic Bilbao, but came off at halftime in favor of Gerard Pique.

Mascherano was returning from a one-match ban for picking up a red card, and despite Barcelona posting clean sheets in all three of its La Liga games this season, Mascherano has yet to play long enough in the two matches he's started to be credited with a shutout.

Mascherano is ineligible to play Sunday against Villarreal after picking up a red card last Sunday against Elche.

Mascherano's fantasy value is fully dependent on clean sheets, and Sunday's matchup isn't the easiest, so he isn't likely losing a ton of value with the time off.

Mascherano participated in light training with a number of Barcelona teammates Tuesday after taking time off following the World Cup.

A full squad training session will come later this week, as the fit players will have a friendly against Napoli on Wednesday. Mascherano has plenty of time to regain his fitness and he should be ready for the Aug. 24 La Liga opener against Elche.

Mascherano is expected to miss the next 10-15 days with a hamstring injury suffered during Tuesday's 4-1 win over Real Sociedad, the Daily Mail reports.

As a result of the injury, Mascherano is likely to miss Barca's upcoming Champions League match against Celtic. It's a tough hit for Barca, who famously lost in Glasgow last season. He will also miss Liga action against Almeria on Saturday and Valladolid on October 5.

It is not only a dream come true for Mascherano, it is also a dream come true for players and fans of teams that have to take on 'Pool. He's an ugly player to play against, and will bring and edge to glitzy Barca.
