Kaka sat out Saturday night's 2-2 draw with San Jose as the result of a lingering thigh injury, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

With the Lions' team captain forced to sit out a second-straight fixture due to a muscle strain in his thigh, club manager Adrian Heath elected to start Brek Shea on the wing versus the Earthquakes. Shea shifted back to left back, where he has played most of the season, after Julio Baptista subbed on for defender Luke Boden in the 62nd minute of Saturday's contest, however. No word yet as to whether or not Kaka will be available for selection next Saturday as Orlando City plays host to Toronto FC.

Kaka (thigh) could play Saturday against San Jose if he is able to train Thursday and Friday, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

Kaka was a late injury replacement for Brazil's Copa America team, but he was then removed after suffering the thigh strain before even playing in a game. His return would be a huge boost for the Lions, though it sounds more likely than not that he'll miss out.

Kaka has been ruled out for Copa America because of the muscle strain he suffered this week, according to Alicia Rose DelGallo of the Orlando Sentinel. He will be replaced by Ganso.

Kaka was already an injury replacement for Douglas Costa, leaving Brazil a bit lighter in the attack again. It's unclear how serious Kaka's injury is, so a return date is still up in the air.

Kaka was held out of training Tuesday with muscle pain, Alicia DelGallo of the Orlando Sentinel reports.

Kaka's injury is just the latest in a string of ailments that are mounting for Brazil. The midfielder was originally added to the roster to replace Douglas Costa who had to drop out with a hamstring injury. Initial indications are that the 34-year-old will not need to be replaced, however with high expectations, manager Dunga could decide it is not worth the risk to keep him in the squad.

Kaka was added to the Brazil squad for Copa America on Thursday after Douglas Costa withdrew due to injury, Sports Illustrated reports.

Kaka's absence is a huge blow to Orlando City, who are already without a number of injured players, and while his addition to the Brazil squad certainly helps their depth, it's unclear if he'll make enough of a fantasy impact during Brazil's run in the tournament.

Kaka picked up another assist Wednesday against Philadelphia, but also had a penalty kick blocked in the first half to go with a yellow card. He led the team with four shots, two on goal and eight corner kicks. Kaka has played in seven matches, scoring twice and assisting five times.

Kaka has a high price tag, but hasn't completely lived up to it for most of the season. He still has yet to make the score sheet on the road this year and Orlando travels to NYC FC next.
