Nick Anderson
29-Year-Old PitcherRP
2019 Fantasy Outlook
Anderson may be the rare 28-year-old with no major-league experience worth knowing. A 32nd-round pick by the Brewers back in 2012, Anderson never signed and instead went to the Frontier League until the Twins purchased his contract in 2015. After recording a 2.25 ERA in 183.2 minor-league innings, split over four seasons, Anderson was acquired by the Marlins, who immediately placed him on their 40-man roster. There may be no organization in baseball better to try to break in with than Miami. It would be a surprise to see him anywhere near the closer conversation early in the season, but after striking out 36.2% of batters while walking just 7.8% at Triple-A last season, it's conceivable that Anderson could work his way towards a high-leverage role as the season progresses. Nabs third win
PTampa Bay Rays
September 8, 2019
Anderson (3-0) was credited with the win in a victory over the Blue Jays on Saturday, firing a scoreless eighth inning during which he allowed a hit and recorded a strikeout.
ANALYSIS
Anderson continues to mow through the opposition at a highly efficient clip, with Saturday's 17-pitch effort the latest evidence of such. The right-hander got 14 of those offerings into the strike zone while serving as the setup man behind Oliver Drake, who subsequently recorded his second save. The 29-year-old Anderson has three consecutive scoreless outings and has already amassed five holds along with his three victories since his trade-deadline acquisition from the Marlins.

How does Nick Anderson compare to other relievers?
This section compares his stats with all relief pitcher seasons from the previous three seasons (minimum 30 innings)*. The bar represents the player's percentile rank. For example, if the bar is halfway across, then the player falls into the 50th percentile for that stat and it would be considered average.

* Exit Velocity, Barrels/BBE %, Balls Hit 95+ MPH %, and Spin Rate are benchmarked against 2019 data (min 30 IP). See here for more exit velocity/barrels stats plus an explanation of current limitations with that data set.
