2026 Fantasy Outlook
Pallante has some unique characteristics that make him interesting, from his unorthodox delivery to his extreme groundball tendencies to his ability to induce weak contact. Those qualities were on display in 2024, when he posted a 3.56 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 88/43 K/BB across 111.1 frames after entering the Cardinals' rotation. That momentum was halted in 2025, however, as Pallante's 5.31 ERA ranked 49th out of 52 qualifiers, his 1.44 WHIP was 52nd and his 15.5 percent strikeout rate ranked 51st. After making 31 starts for St. Louis last season, Pallante will have to compete to retain his rotation spot in 2026. A modest rebound wouldn't be a surprise, but with an undefined role and such little upside due to his lack of bat-missing ability, Pallante can be passed over in most fantasy leagues. 2025 Fantasy Outlook
Ineffective relievers don't typically make effective starters, but Pallante bucked that trend in 2024. After collecting a 4.96 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 49/35 K/BB over 78 innings covering 71 relief appearances from the start of 2023 through the first month of this past season, Pallante was sent down to Triple-A Memphis to get stretched out as a starter. He returned with a new sinker to help soften his career-long reverse splits and proceeded to post a 3.56 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 88/43 K/BB across 111.1 frames in 20 starts the rest of the way. An 18.5 percent strikeout rate and 9.4 percent walk rate might lead you to believe the results were fluky, but Pallante's xERA (3.39) was well below his actual ERA (3.78), thanks to his elite ability to induce grounders (98th percentile) and avoid the barrel (98th percentile). It's not an exciting fantasy profile because he doesn't miss bats, but Pallante nonetheless looks like a quality big-league starter.
