2026 Fantasy Outlook
Elbow trouble sabotaged Miller's 2025 season, as he was first shut down in mid-May with inflammation before making a second trip to the injured list in June. His performance when available was a far cry from his breakout 2024, with his FIP jumping from 3.58 to 5.17. Miller's stuff was down and he finished the regular season with just an 18.9 K% over 90.1 innings. While he pitched well for Seattle in the postseason with a 2.51 ERA across 14.1 innings and indicated he was feeling the best he had all season, there was talk of another PRP shot after the Mariners were eliminated. Surgery was not expected to be necessary heading into the offseason, but it sounds like Miller may need additional treatment for what is said to be a small bone spur in his right elbow. Miller was limited to 65 pitches Wednesday, as he managed to work his way through traffic to hold Boston to one run. Overall, it was a step in the right direction for Miller, who struggled to a 9.00 ERA across 20 frames in his previous four starts. He'll carry a 4.01 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 95:26 K:BB into his next outing, tentatively scheduled to come at home against the Rangers.

Miller had a breakout sophomore campaign with outcomes that would have been even better if Seattle had a better offense to support him. Somewhere, Felix Hernandez nods in approval and is offering Miller a supporting hug. Miller made 18 quality starts, winning 12 of them, while using a septet of pitches highlighted by the debut of a fantastic splitter. Miller watched other teammates use the pitch effectively in 2023 and honed it himself over the winter. The addition of the splitter paired extremely well with his fastball, as both pitches had opponents' batting averages below .200 and whiff rates above 25 percent. The league hit nearly 75 points worse off the fastball now that it had a more effective partner in crime than the traditional changeup from 2023. The pitch change particularly helped Miller against lefties who hit nearly 100 points lower than they did in 2023 and helped him become more split neutral in 2024 compared to his imbalanced 2023 season. Miller has everything needed to take his career and production to another level, if the Seattle offense comes along for the ride in 2025.
