2026 Fantasy Outlook
Scott was sidelined for all of 2025 after undergoing hybrid Tommy John and internal brace surgery in September of 2024. He began throwing on flat ground the following March and continued throughout the summer, including throwing off a mound and facing live hitters. Scott was reportedly sitting around 94 mph, while occasionally reaching 96 mph. Because his recovery plan includes a required cooldown period, he shut things down for a few months with the intention of ramping back up in January. While he's expected to be ready for the start of spring training, the Mets can afford to be patient given their depth of young arms. Scott is likely to begin the season at Triple-A Syracuse, with a potential call-up later in the year, as reestablishing his control and command will ultimately dictate his timeline. Scott (4-3) notched the win against the Nationals on Sunday, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks in 6.1 innings. He struck out seven.
Analysis
Scott pitched into the seventh inning for the first time all season, though he was taken yard for the first time since July 3 in Atlanta. The right-hander has yielded mixed results recently, giving up at least three runs while hitting a batter in three straight starts, but he has tallied at least six strikeouts in six consecutive outings now. Scott will take a promising 3.51 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 105:35 K:BB over 84.2 innings into his next scheduled appearance in Chicago against the White Sox.

Stat Review
How does Christian Scott compare to other starting pitchers?
This section compares his stats with all starting pitcher seasons from the previous three seasons (minimum 120 innings)*. The bar represents the player's percentile rank. For example, if the bar is halfway across, then the player falls into the 50th percentile for that stat and it would be considered average.

* Exit Velocity, Barrels/BBE %, Balls Hit 95+ MPH %, and Spin Rate are benchmarked against 2019 data (min 120 IP). See here for more exit velocity/barrels stats plus an explanation of current limitations with that data set.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2025
2024
Scott may have improved his prospect status more than any other pitcher until his meteoric rise was curtailed by a UCL sprain in his right elbow. After first hoping to avoid surgery, Scott underwent a hybrid Tommy John and internal brace procedure in late September. He's slated to miss the entire 2025 campaign. Scott's breakout began in the second half of 2023 as he fanned 77 in 62 innings with Double-A Binghamton. He opened last season with Triple-A Syracuse, punching out 55 in 42.1 frames. He was less effective in 47.1 innings with the Mets, notching just 39 strikeouts while issuing eight homers. He'll still be just 27 years old when he takes the hill again in 2026, so he could be worth a stash in deep keeper and dynasty formats.
A 6-foot-4 righty with pinpoint command, Scott had a 3.4 percent walk rate in 12 starts at Double-A. Scott transitioned from mostly pitching in relief in college to slowly getting stretched out in 2022 and then building up to 87.2 innings as a true starter last season, mostly at Double-A. He was too old (turns 25 in June) and accurate to meet resistance in the lower levels and managed a 2.47 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and a 77:8 K:BB in 62 innings against Double-A hitters. Scott has yet to log a true starter's workload over a full season, but he also hasn't gone through much adversity. He sits at 94 mph with his four-seamer, but the pitch has good life and can touch as high as 98 mph. His slider and changeup are viable second and third offerings, but his fastball can be his top bat-misser thanks to his ability to place it where he wants. Given his age and command, Scott could move quickly to the majors this summer.

Could return this weekend
PNew York Mets
June 22, 2026
Scott, who's dealing with a right hip impingement, could return to the big-league roster at some point before the end of the month, according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com.
Analysis
Scott will be first eligible to come off the 15-day injured list Saturday, so there's a chance he's back with the big-league club over the weekend. Scott has made nine starts for the Mets this season, posting a 3.10 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 47:19 K:BB through 40.2 innings.
