Rest-of-Season Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
A femoral stress reaction in Tatis' right quadricep cost the shortstop-turned-outfielder more than two months of the 2024 season. He showed little rust down the stretch, however, slugging .578 with seven home runs in his final 22 regular-season games. He didn't stop there, adding four homers in seven postseason contests. Overall, his running was down; Tatis' stolen-base total fell from a career-high 29 to 11 last season as his sprint speed ranked in the 77th percentile. Whether related to prior PED use or not, the simple fact is that over the past two seasons Tatis has not come close to replicating the kind of rate power we saw from him before his wrist injury and subsequent PED suspension in 2022. The good news is that neither the power nor the speed need to fully return for Tatis to return to fantasy superstardom. It would just be nice if he took advantage of those bigger bases and new rules limited pickoff attempts in his remaining prime years. Read Past Outlooks

Goes deep in defeat
Tatis went 2-for-4 with a solo home run Wednesday in a loss to the Reds.
Analysis
For a while it looked like Tatis' fifth-inning solo shot would hold up as the lone run of the contest, but the Reds struck for two tallies in the eighth to pull out the victory. Tatis has picked up his power a bit in September, swatting three long balls through nine games after going deep just once across 27 contests in August. Overall, he's at a relatively modest 21 home runs this season, though he's added 29 stolen bases, 63 RBI, 97 runs and an .801 OPS to provide well-rounded production.

2017
Tatis sat out the first 20 games of 2023 while serving the remainder of his PED suspension, though he still set a career high with 141 games played after missing the entirety of 2022 with shoulder and wrist injuries in addition to the suspension. The 25-year-old finished the first half with 16 homers, 14 steals and an .871 OPS, but he hit just .225 with nine homers and 15 steals in 71 contests after the All-Star break. It was still a productive season overall, but his above-average 113 wRC+ is a far cry from the elite 154 figure he posted across his first three big-league campaigns. The encouraging news is that Tatis was able to stay healthy in 2023, and he started in all but two games following the suspension. He also made a seamless transition to having right field be his primary position, and he led the league with 29 defensive runs saved. Tatis is a strong rebound candidate for 2024 following a down second half, though it may be optimistic to expect him to regain his 2019-21 form, when he was arguably the best hitter in MLB.
