2023 Fantasy Outlook
The H in Josh H. Smith stands for hitter as this young man can hit. He owns a .305/.421/.500 triple-slash line in a minor league career with a slugging percentage built more on gap extra base hits than homers along with a 41 of 53 trak record on the basepaths. He struggled in his rookie season when Texas called him up with non-fastballs as he hit a collective .096 against breaking balls and offspeed pitches with a healthy dose of swing and miss. The baptism by fire last season did allo him to gain third base and outfield eligibility on draft day, but he does not have enough bat to be a fantasy regular at either position much less for the improving Rangers offense. Smith can be targeted in later rounds of deep AL-Only leagues as well as draft and hold formats in case something does open up for him as he still has good overall tools. Read Past Outlooks

Clubs homer
Smith hit a solo home run in his only at-bat in Sunday's 13-3 win over the Rockies.
ANALYSIS
Smith served as a defensive replacement for Marcus Semien at second base in the blowout win. In his lone at-bat, Smith took Alan Trejo deep in the eighth inning. With the return of Corey Seager, there's no longer a clear path to playing time for Smith, so he's returned to a utility role. The 25-year-old is slashing .222/.385/.389 with three homers, four RBI, 14 runs scored, a stolen base and three doubles through 92 plate appearances.
