2025 Fantasy Outlook
O'Hoppe was limited to 51 games in 2023 due to a torn labrum in his shoulder, but he stayed mostly healthy last season and played in a career-high 136 contests. He clubbed 20 homers and had a .244/.303/.409 slash line with 56 RBI and 60 runs scored, but he may have deserved some better results with a 46.3 percent hard-hit rate that led to a .256 xBA and .470 xSLG. O'Hoppe had reverse splits with a .743 OPS against right-handed pitching compared to a .592 OPS versus lefties, but there's reason for optimism he'll rebound there since he hit lefties well during his time in the minors. Now entering his age-25 campaign, O'Hoppe's offensive production isn't near the top of the position, but he's a solid fantasy option that carries upside while heading into just his second full MLB season. Pops eighth homer
O'Hoppe went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Mariners.
ANALYSIS
The slugging backstop got the Halos on the board when he took Carlos Vargas deep in the seventh inning. O'Hoppe is up to eight homers on the season, including three in the last five games, but those are his only hits over that stretch. On the season, he's slashing .259/.292/.553 with 11 runs and 13 RBI in 24 contests.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
O'Hoppe had an intriguing yet incomplete debut season with the Angels. He got off to a great start hitting .283 with 4 homers and 13 RBIs in the first few weeks of the season before a torn labrum in his non-throwing shoulder put him on the shelf until late August. He was a fantasy monster in the final month of the season with 9 homers, 16 runs, and 15 RBIs down the stretch from the catching position. So far, O'Hoppe has hit lefties (.293) much better than righties (.220) but the overall numbers in an abbreviated season are certainly enticing. O'Hoppe is in the lineup more for his offensive upside than his defensive abilities as he is a liability behind the plate in controlling the running game and is still learning to be a better pitch framer. The potential for a 25-30 homer season is in his bat, but the upside here certainly comes with risks of his defensive liabilities costing him at bats unless he DH's more now with Ohtani's departure.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Cubs pursued at deadline
The Cubs attempted to acquired O'Hoppe ahead of the July 30 trade deadline, but the Angels didn't show much interest in trading him, reports Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic.
ANALYSIS
Chicago could certainly use the help behind the plate since primary backstop Miguel Amaya has a .589 OPS this season, but O'Hoppe was a long shot given he won't even be eligible for his first year of arbitration until 2026. The 24-year-old has a .256/.315/.428 slash line with 16 homers in 103 games this season, which is his first full year as a starter in the big leagues. The Cubs could re-engage their pursuit of O'Hoppe during the offseason, but the Angels aren't likely to significantly change their tune without a massive return package.
