Rest-of-Season Projections
2023 Fantasy Outlook
Miller touched triple digits in spring training 2022, but a subsequent shoulder strain sidelined him for the first five months of the season. The 6-foot-5 righty got healthy in time to generate buzz after returning (25:3 K:BB in 14 innings at the complex, High-A and Triple-A) and in the Arizona Fall League (20:4 K:BB in 16.2 innings). He now touches 102 mph with the heater while sitting in the upper-90s. Miller's slider, cutter and changeup (in that order) all show promise, so it's mostly a matter of him proving he can handle a starter's workload. The third-round pick from 2021 turns 25 in August and has logged 36.2 innings in pro ball (including the AFL). This season will be about building up his innings while refining his secondaries in the upper levels of the minors. Read Past Outlooks

Starts throwing again
The Athletics announced Wednesday that Miller (elbow) has resumed a throwing program, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Miller will presumably need the next week or two to increase his long-toss distance off flat ground before he's cleared for mound work. After throwing a handful of bullpen sessions, Miller would then need to throw a live batting practice session or two before advancing to a minor-league rehab assignment, so he's still realistically a month or longer away from making a return to the Oakland rotation. Before being placed on the 15-day injured list May 11 with a mild UCL sprain in his right elbow, Miller logged a 3.38 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 22:7 K:BB over 21.1 innings in his first four big-league starts.
