2025 Fantasy Outlook
Castellanos was one of just four players to appear in all 162 games last season, allowing him to reach 23 homers, six steals, 80 runs and 86 RBI on a respectable but unexciting .254/.311/.431 slash line. With no obvious threats to his playing time, $40 million remaining on his contract over the next two seasons and a fairly durable health track record, he could be one of the better compilers in fantasy baseball again in 2025, riding everyday at-bats in a strong lineup with a hitter-friendly home park to big counting-stat totals. But we can't ignore the fact that his real-world profile already looks ill-suited to an everyday job on a contender, with his lack of walks (6.2%) keeping him to a modest 105 wRC+ and a lack of value with his legs or glove limiting him to 0.4 fWAR. A step back at the plate in his age-33 season could threaten his everyday role even without an obvious alternative on the roster, leaving him unable to post the totals fantasy managers are used to. Slugs sixth long ball in loss
Castellanos went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 2-1 loss to Toronto.
ANALYSIS
It was the sixth long ball of the season for Castellanos, who has been hitting for some more power of late. Over his last 10 outings, the veteran slugger is batting .286 (10-for-35) with two homers, two doubles and four RBI to go with four runs scored and one stolen base. As long as Castellanos is regularly hitting fourth or fifth in Philadelphia's lineup, he should continue to see plenty of RBI opportunities.

Philadelphia inked Castellanos to a five-year deal for $100 million after the 2021 season, but the organization is reportedly already having a bit of buyer's remorse as there are rumors it would like to move on from his streaky bat and terrible defense. The fact Castellanos has three more years and $60 million left on his deal makes trading him rather tough. The Phillies are frustrated because Castellanos is streaky; he hit .313 in April and .351 in June, but .162 in July, .235 in the second half of the season and has been abysmal in the postseason for them. Fantasy managers are not as concerned because the volume of production was still there even if Castellanos's run production slipped in conjunction with his outlier on-base percentage from 2021. Kyle Schwarber's continued presence on the roster clogs up the DH spot most of the time, so the much-needed move to DH for Castellanos is not happening as long as he remains with the club. For now, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Available via trade
The Phillies have made Castellanos available in trade discussions, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Gelb cautions that a trade of Castellanos isn't likely unless the Phillies are willing to absorb a large portion of the $40 million he's owed over the next two years, and it's unclear what their appetite for that is. Castellanos has had an up-and-down tenure in Philadelphia, most recently slashing .254/.311/.431 with 23 homers over 162 regular-season games in 2024.
