The Orlando Magic defeated the visiting Charlotte Hornets,127-89, at Amway Center on Thursday. With Charlotte hosting the all-star game this weekend, it was clear they checked out before this finale. In fact, the Magic led 71-36 at the half, as the Hornets could never get the game within a 25-point margin in the second half. The shooting disparity was embarrassing for Charlotte, as they shot 35 percent from the field and 13 percent from three-point range while Orlando connected on 52 percent from the field and 44 percent from long range. Ball movement played a huge factor in that, with the Magic out-assisting the Hornets, 32-18. Orlando also on the defensive rebounding battle, 42-32. The Hornets (27-30) were led by Malik Monk, as he provided 15 points, four rebounds and two assists off the bench. Jeremy Lamb led the starters with 14 points, four rebounds and two assists. Cody Zeller finished with 13 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals. Kemba Walker went just 4-of-20 from the field to total 10 points and three assists. The Magic (27-32) were led by Terrence Ross, as he provided 21 points and two assists off the bench. Nikola Vucevic led the starters with 17 points, 11 rebounds and four assists. Jonathan Isaac amassed 16 points and six boards while Aaron Gordon accrued 10 points, 11 rebounds and four assists. Evan Fournier tallied 12 points, three rebounds, six assists and two steals. Both teams return to action next Friday, with Charlotte playing host to the Washington Wizards and Orlando welcoming the Chicago Bulls to Amway Center.
