2024 Fantasy Outlook
After years of frustration, Hartenstein realized his potential during the 2023-24 season, putting together a career-best campaign. Despite starting the year as the backup behind Mitchell Robinson, Hartenstein started more games than ever thanks to a significant injury to Robinson. Hartenstein ended with averages of 7.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.1 blocks in 25.3 minutes per game, good enough for top-75 value. Following his breakout, Hartenstein was signed by the Thunder, a team desperately in need of a big body to play either behind or alongside Chet Holmgren. While his role is a little unclear, it's safe to assume that Hartenstein should see upwards of 25 minutes per game once again. While his ceiling remains capped as long as Holmgren is healthy, there is no reason to think Hartenstein can't flirt with top-100 value. If Oklahoma City decides to start Hartenstein next to Holmgren at any point, the former's short-term value could see a small bump. No matter his assigned role, Hartenstein makes for a viable late-round target, even more so for anyone punting points. Read Past Outlooks

ANALYSIS
Although Isaiah Hartenstein's role declined in the NBA Finals due to matchups, he was instrumental in Oklahoma City's run to the championship. Playing in his first season with the Thunder, Hartenstein showed good chemistry alongside Chet Holmgren and excelled on both sides of the court. He appeared in 57 regular-season contests, posting sixth-round value in nine-category fantasy formats on a per-game basis with averages of 11.2 points, 10.7 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.1 blocks and 0.8 steals in 27.9 minutes per contest.

Hartenstein has been a per-minute stud throughout his career, but that didn't carry over into last season. The big man averaged 5.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.6 steals and 0.8 blocks on 53.5 percent shooting across nearly 20 minutes a night. Most of those numbers are fantastic for a 20-minute player, but scoring just five points per game is unusual from such a talented big man. The reduced efficiency is the primary reason for the fall off, with Hartenstein shooting 61 percent in the three previous years. He also had plenty of chances to take on a bigger workload when Julius Randle and Mitchell Robinson were sidelined, but his averages weren't any different in his eight games as a starter. The big man fills every stat that you want to see in fantasy basketball, but it really doesn't matter in a role like this. Being stuck behind minute hounds like Randle and Robinson is rough for Hartenstein's fantasy value, especially since Jericho Sims and Isaiah Roby are also in the picture. It would take a ton of injuries for Hartenstein to become a fantasy-relevant option, but he's always a sneaky stream or DFS target whenever one of those big men has to sit.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Thriving while guarding Jokic
Hartenstein has done a great job guarding Jokic during the Western Conference Semifinals between the Thunder and Nuggets, according to Tim MacMahon of ESPN.
ANALYSIS
Jokic went 3-for-10 when Hartenstein was his primary defender Sunday in Game 4, which ended with a Thunder win. The series is now even at two wins apiece. Jokic was noticeably off his game in the fourth quarter as Denver let an eight-point lead slip away, and credit should go not only to Hartenstein but also to the Thunder's overall defensive plan against the MVP candidate. Hartenstein is averaging 11.0 points and 10.3 rebounds per game in the series.
