Cut loose by Sacramento
The Kings waived Noel on Tuesday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sacramento let go Noel and Neemias Queta (foot) on Tuesday, leavingAlex Len and JaVale McGee as depth options at center behind Domantas Sabonis (thumb). Noel is a capable shot blocker who could find himself on another roster ahead of training camp, though he may not be in store for a regular rotation spot with any team.

While Noel will open the season in Detroit, it feels as though his best chance of carving out a substantial role would be to get traded. Even in 20 minutes per game, Noel has a proven ability to rack up defensive stats, making him a sought-after streaming option. The Pistons have several young options occupying the frontcourt, meaning Noel could very well be on the outside looking in when it comes to opportunities. Add to that the fact he is known for missing time due to injury, and you are left with a player who should not be on the fantasy radar outside of deeper leagues. If, for some reason, the team opts to give him a look, he is certainly worth popping on a watch list just in case he can string together a few strong performances.

Drawing interest from teams
Several teams are showing interest in signing Noel for the final weeks of the 2023-24 regular season, Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reports.
ANALYSIS
Noel is known for his athleticism and versatility, but the 29-year-old has struggled on offense, and he hasn't been part of an NBA roster since being waived by the Kings in September. The Knicks, Rockets and Hornets are keeping close tabs on the big man, though he'd make more sense for New York as a potential backup center for the stretch run. The Knicks discussed signing Noel to a 10-day deal earlier in the season, but they ended up signing Taj Gibson instead.
