Fox played in 51 of a possible 72 games for the Kings during the pandemic-shortened 2019-20 season. He averaged a career-best 21.1 points per game while shooting a career-high 48.0 percent from the field. Fox rounded out his stat line with 6.8 assists, 3.8 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.1 three-pointers per game. In the second game of the season, Oct. 25 against Portland, the 22-year-old posted 28 points, six rebounds, five assists and three treys. Five nights later, Fox registered his first double-double of the season with 16 points, 10 assists and two steals against the Hornets. An ankle injury forced Fox to miss 17 straight games between Nov. 12 and Dec. 15, but he hardly missed a beat upon returning, as he notched 19 points in his first game back, Dec. 17 against Charlotte. On Dec. 29 against Denver, Fox dished a season-high 13 assists to accompany 18 points. All in all, the Kentucky product recorded nine double-doubles and scored 30-plus points seven times. On Jan. 13, he did both, recording 31 points with 10 assists, seven rebounds, one steal and one block against the Magic. On Jan. 30, Fox scored 34 points -- then a career high -- during a road win over the Clippers, adding eight assists, four steals, three three-pointers and two blocks in arguably his best game of the season. After the NBA resumed play in the Orlando bubble, Fox set a new career high with 39 points against the Spurs on Jul. 31.
2018
In his second season in the NBA, Fox took big steps forward across the board. The lightning-quick point guard started 81 games and scored 17.3 points per game, up from 11.6 as a rookie. He dished out 7.3 assists per game, up from 4.4 in 2017-2018 and good for eighth in the league. He also managed 3.8 rebounds per game, up from 2.8 a year earlier. Fox was buoyed by an increase in playing time. He saw 31.4 minutes per game after playing 27.8 minutes per game as rookie. However, Fox's improved production wasn't simply a result of increased playing time. The 21-year-old went for 19.8 points, 8.3 assists and 4.3 rebounds per 36 minutes, which were all up from the year before. Fox also improved his shooting percentage from both inside and outside the arc. He finished at 45.8 percent overall and 37.1 percent from 3-point range. The Kentucky product thrived in Sacramento's fast-paced attack, helping the Kings score 114.2 points per game (good for ninth in the NBA) and finish with 39 wins, their most since 2005-2006.
2017
The No. 5 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, Fox was tasked with orchestrating the offense in Sacramento as a rookie. The young point guard appeared in 73 games and made 60 starts. Fox wasted no time establishing himself as a key player for the Kings, averaging 11.6 points and 4.4 assists per game. The Kentucky product shot 41.2 percent from the field, 30.7 percent from 3-point range and 72.3 percent from the free-throw line. Fox also showed off his quickness by registering 70 steals in his 73 games of action. He twice recorded four steals in a game and had another five outings with three steals. Fox made his NBA debut on opening night, Oct. 18, with 14 points, five assists and four rebounds during a home loss to the Rockets. Fox recorded his first career double-double on Jan. 8 with 11 points and 10 assists during a home loss to the Spurs. Fox recorded three double-doubles during the season, with all three coming via points and assists. On Jan. 28, Fox went off for a season-high 26 points on 8-of-15 shooting against San Antonio. The rookie topped 20 points four other times. The 20-year-old even had a four-block game, a Dec. 1 win at Chicago, in what was a successful rookie NBA campaign.
