Sports betting is legal in North Carolina, but it's only available at two casinos, which weren't open as of early 2021. While wagering at two tribal casinos was approved in the 2019 bill, online betting was not included. There are new bills in the works that will likely include expansion physically and online, though it may not be until 2021 when those go into effect.
While sports betting is legal in the state, it is not yet possible to bet at either casino. Run by Caesars, both sportsbooks are under construction and hope to open at some point in 2020. The Coronavirus pandemic didn't do any favors in helping the timeline, either.
Daily Fantasy Sports are allowed statewide and horse racing betting is only allowed at the sportsbooks above. Daily Fantasy Sports have never been formally legalized, but 2006 legislation considers them games of skill, so they continue to operate within North Carolina.
