DeChambeau posted a 26-under cumulative score at LIV Golf South Africa and won the event after beating
Jon Rahm on the first playoff hole.
ANALYSIS
DeChambeau led the tournament from the first round, posting an eight-under 63 on Thursday. He maintained his lead up until Sunday, when Rahm caught up with his own eight-under 63, leading to the Crushers GC and Legion XIII captains facing off against each other on a playoff hole. After his tee shot missed left of the fairway, DeChambeau hit his second shot onto the green and 10 feet away for an eagle putt. He settled for a birdie and came away with the victory after Rahm was unable to convert on his own birdie opportunity. DeChambeau has won each of the last two LIV Golf tournaments, the first time since 2018 that he has won back-to-back tournaments (THE NORTHERN TRUST and Dell Technologies Championship on the PGA Tour). There is a lot of momentum behind the Crushers captain, and the next time he tees off will be April 9 at The Masters, where he finished T6 and T5 in 2024 and 2025, respectively.
