Plays hero in win over Mountaineers
GTexas
January 10, 2021
Jones supplied 16 points (6-14 FG, 4-7 3Pt), three rebounds, one assist and one steal in 35 minutes Saturday in Texas' 72-70 win over West Virginia.
ANALYSIS
Jones came through in the clutch for the Longhorns in what was perhaps the top moment of his collegiate career, hitting a go-ahead three-pointer with 1.1 seconds remaining in the second half to help Texas improve to 10-1. The big shot likely had significant meaning for Jones, who had been diagnosed with leukemia exactly three years earlier before successfully resuming his career in November 2018. The fifth-year player has played a key part in the Longhorns' hot start to the season, averaging 13.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.9 treys in 28.8 minutes per game over 10 appearances.
