Officially entering draft
Hughes announced Monday that he'll keep his name in the 2020 NBA Draft and forgo his senior season at Syracuse, Jeff Goodman of WatchStadium.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Though Hughes isn't a lock to get selected in the first round, Syracuse had always been preparing for him to keep his name in the draft after he first revealed a month ago that he was testing the process. Hughes' departure leaves a big void to fill after he averaged 19.0 points, 5.0 rebound and 3.4 assists in 36.7 minutes per game in 2019-20. Quincy Guerrier and Marek Dolezaj tentatively look like the top candidates to fill Hughes' minutes and usage on the wing, though Syracuse could also have Illinois transfer Alan Griffin available to chip in if the NCAA grants him a waiver for immediate eligibility.
