Richardson began his freshman season in a bench role, but he earned a promotion to the starting five in February and boosted his draft stock accordingly. Ultimately, Richardson finished the 2024-25 campaign with averages of 12.1 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.3 three-pointers and 0.8 steals in 25.2 minutes per contest. Though Richardson projects as an undersized off-ball guard at the next level, he showed an impressive feel for the game as a freshman along with a deft shooting touch. He converted at a 49.3 clip from the field and a 41.2 percent rate from three-point range during his lone season in East Lansing.
