Cleared to play in NBA
The NBA's Fitness to Play panel cleared Johnson on Friday, allowing him to be selected in the 2023 NBA Draft, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
While playing for Florida during a Dec. 12, 2020 game, Johnson collapsed on the court and spent three days in a coma. He was later diagnosed with a heart condition and proceeded to miss the rest of the 2020-21 season and all of the 2021-22 season, but he was cleared to resume his playing career after he transferred to Kansas State last offseason. In addition to enduring no setbacks on the health front, the 6-foot-6, 230-pound forward played at high level, averaging 17.4 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game for a team that advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. Johnson previously declared for the draft in April, but he needed medical clearance from the league to make his move to the professional ranks official.
