CFL Betting: CFL Bets and Parlays for Week 11
We have an intriguing Saturday doubleheader to open the second half of the CFL season, with the Tiger-Cats-Roughriders matinee particularly holding promise as a wire-to-wire offensive showcase.
Read on for a look at which Week 11 CFL betting scenarios catch my eye on FanDuel Sportsbook.
Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Saskatchewan Roughriders (Saturday, August 16, 3:00 p.m. ET)
This game rightfully carries the largest projected total of the four-game Week 11 slate, and both veteran quarterbacks are certainly capable of validating that prognostication. Additionally, each team's defense, particularly against the pass, could certainly help facilitate plenty of production and points for the other side.
The Ti-Cats' Bo Levi Mitchell checks into the second meeting of the season between these clubs blistering hot, having made 300-yard games practically a formality at this point. Mitchell has exceeded 300 passing yards in seven of nine games this season, including four straight. That includes a 336-yard tally against the Roughriders in Week 2, a game that ended in a 28-23 victory for Saskatchewan.
The Riders could well facilitate another prolific day for Mitchell, considering they're allowing the second-most passing yards per game (306.6) and the third-highest completion percentage (70.6). They've also allowed 12 completions of 30+ yards, and in that Week 2 matchup, they allowed Mitchell to average a healthy 12.9 yards per completion.
Trevor Harris capable of piling up the production on the other side, as he's completing a career-best 75.2 percent of his passes and averaging a career-high 10.2 yards per attempt. Harris is also averaging a co-career-high 311.9 yards per game, and he's facing a Tiger-Cats defense surrendering 285.9 passing yards per game and the third-most yards after the catch (1,047).
Hamilton is also conceding the fourth-most points per game (28.2) and the second-most first downs (189). The Riders have been much stingier at 21.8 PPG allowed, but they're now dealing with a juggernaut of a Ti-Cats offense that's clicking on all cylinders while averaging a league-high 32.3 points per game and scoring a league-high 27 offensive TDs coming into Week 11.
Considering all the numbers cited, I believe a higher-scoring contest than the first meeting is on tap, making the Over as my main game bet. Then, an SGP that hedges a bit on that first prediction by teasing the total down five points and banking on another 300-yard day for Mitchell is a good complementary wager to consider.
CFL Picks for Tiger-Cats at Roughriders
- Over 54.5 points (-115 on FanDuel Sportsbook)
- SGP: Over Alt Total 49.5 Points and Bo Levi Mitchell 300+ passing yards (+103 on FanDuel Sportsbook)

Montreal Alouettes at B.C. Lions (Saturday, August 16, 7:00 p.m. ET)
The Lions have opened up to as much as 7.5-point favorites for this home matchup now that Caleb Evans has been announced as Montreal's starting QB. B.C. is a disappointing 4-5, but it certainly isn't due to its high-powered, Nathan Rourke-led offense.
The Lions have a -17-point differential for the season, yet they've proven capable of capitalizing on favorable matchups by scoring 17- and 18-point wins over the Elks this season. The Lions have also run into a couple of juggernaut offenses in those of the Roughriders and Tiger-Cats, which handed B.C. six- and four-point losses, respectively, in Weeks 7 and 8.
The Lions' defense gets a break this week, however, as Evans is experienced but just an average CFL starter. That's evidenced by his career 17:22 TD:INT, which suggests that even though the veteran is certainly capable of some spike performances, his penchant for turnovers tends to rear its head often. He's facing a reasonably solid pass defense in this Saturday night clash, considering the Lions have surrendered a league-low 242.2 passing yards per game and the fourth-lowest completion percentage (68.4).
The Lions have had trouble with allowing big plays through the air, many of those coming as a result of yards after the catch. Therefore, the Als, and Evans specifically, may certainly have their moments as the night unfolds, but Rourke and his pass catchers have proven virtually matchup-proof this season. The Lions check in averaging a league-high 319.0 passing yards per game and have connected on the third-most completions of 30+ yards.
The Alouettes have faced the second-most pass attempts (307) and allowed the third-most completions (211), and Rourke lit them up for 352 yards in a 21-20 victory for the Lions in Montreal back in Week 5. Therefore, while I'm a bit uncomfortable in giving the Alouettes more than a touchdown, I'll bring the spread down a couple points and pair it with a very reachable prop for Rourke, who's thrown for between 289 and 408 yards in his last five games, for a solid SGP.
CFL Picks for Alouettes at Lions
- SGP: Alt. Spread Lions -5.5 and Nathan Rourke 250+ passing yards (-133 on FanDuel Sportsbook)
