DraftKings College Football: Value Plays Week 6

DraftKings College Football: Value Plays Week 6

This article is part of our DraftKings College Football series.

There are a lot of good-looking lineup fits for this week's early Saturday slate on DraftKings.com, particularly among options on East Carolina, North Carolina State, Clemson and Mississippi State. Each of those teams figures to score a lot of points this week, and each has a handful of reliable producers you can count on week to week.

This week's lineup and alternatives are largely drawn from those games.

QUARTERBACK

Jacoby Brissett - North Carolina State at Clemson ($6,100)

If there's a "must play" option at quarterback this week, it's Brissett. The Florida State defense clearly isn't near the level it was at in 2013 or even 2012, but Brissett still impressed against the Seminoles on Saturday, completing 32-of-48 passes for 359 yards and three touchdowns while running for 38 yards. He faces a Clemson squad that should be high-scoring under the leadership of quarterback Deshaun Watson, which should lead to a pass-heavy game plan from North Carolina State, and the Clemson defense has looked vulnerable against the pass against Florida State and North Carolina.

Dak Prescott - Mississippi State vs. Texas A&M ($9,000)

Prescott is awesome. Through four games he has 964 yards and 10 touchdowns as a passer to go along with 378 yards and three touchdowns on the ground, not to mention a 24-yard touchdown reception. Playing at home against a Texas A&M squad that is strong on offense but only okay on defense, Prescott should benefit from an aggressive game-plan against a defense vulnerable to a player of his skill level. This price is high, but he looks like a threat to get bonuses for both 300-plus passing yards and 100-plus rushing yards this week.

QB Alternatives: Shane Carden - East Carolina vs. SMU ($8,800), Deshaun Watson - Clemson vs. North Carolina State ($7,200)

RUNNING BACK

Tevin Coleman - Indiana vs. North Texas ($9,000)

North Texas has allowed 347 yards and four touchdowns on the ground this year, but 163 yards and three of the touchdowns were surrendered to Texas in Week 1. Texas' running game isn't that good, so Coleman's talent should be a bit of a shock to the Mean Green after facing SMU, Louisiana Tech and Nicholls State over the last three weeks. Todd Gurley and Melvin Gordon should be fine plays this week, but I'm afraid Gurley will rest early against a pitiful Vanderbilt team, and I don't trust the Wisconsin offense on the road against Northwestern. I'm very confident in Coleman this week, for some reason.

Ezekiel Elliott - Ohio State at Maryland ($4,600

The Ohio State offense finally got humming over the last two weeks, and the Buckeyes should keep feeding Elliott after he broke out for 182 yards and a touchdown on 28 carries against Cincinnati last week, adding five catches for 51 yards.

RB Alternatives: Marshawn Williams - Virginia Tech at North Carolina ($3,700), Desmond Roland - Oklahoma State vs. Iowa State ($4,200), Nick Chubb - Georgia vs. Vanderbilt ($3,100), Samaje Perine - Oklahoma at TCU ($5,300)

WIDE RECEIVER

Mike Williams - Clemson vs. North Carolina State ($4,600)

With Deshaun Watson's ascent into the starting lineup, the Clemson passing game is set to stay scorching all year. Williams is a good bet to establish himself as the No. 1 target in that passing game, making him an every-week consideration at a price like this. He's particularly enticing in this matchup, one against a North Carolina State squad that allowed 673 yards and six touchdowns passing between Old Dominion and Florida State. His 365 receiving yards lead the Clemson roster and, at 6-foot-4, 210 pounds, he's also the team's most obvious red-zone target.

Isaiah Jones - East Carolina vs. SMU ($5,700)

If you don't take Carden or Justin Hardy, you might want to get a piece of the East Carolina passing game by securing Jones. Jones has 85 receptions in his last 13 games, which gives him a good floor in DraftKings' PPR scoring, and Jones' target volume should be a bit steadier than usual with Cam Worthy suspended another week. Hardy, by the way, is due for a big game - he's gone 21 catches without a touchdown, and something has to give there.

De'Runnya Wilson - Mississippi State vs. Texas A&M ($3,800)

Jameon Lewis is Mississippi State's best all-around receiver, but Wilson is far and away the team's best red-zone threat at 6-foot-5, 225. I hate that he had no catches in Week 3 and just two in Week 2, but I feel like Mississippi State will need him more this week than any other if the Bulldogs hope to score more points than A&M. He has four touchdowns and 175 yards on 10 catches this year, including four catches for 91 yards and a touchdown against LSU two weeks ago.

This is unrelated to Wilson, but I feel the need to mention that my gut is screaming at me to pick Tyreek Hill ($4,100) against Iowa State. He hasn't scored a touchdown on 29 carries, and Iowa State has allowed 16 rushing touchdowns in four games. I think it's harder to pick out the Cowboys touchdowns this week than it is the Mississippi State ones, however, and Hill doesn't offer the target volume as a receiver that guys like Williams and Jones do. He's also more expensive than Wilson.

WR Alternatives: Justin Hardy - East Carolina vs. SMU ($7,200), Tyreek Hill - Oklahoma State vs. Iowa State ($4,100), Demarcus Robinson - Florida at Tennessee ($6,800), John Harris - Texas vs. Baylor ($5,300), Jameon Lewis - Mississippi State vs. Texas A&M ($5,200)

FLEX

Marshawn Williams - Virginia Tech at North Carolina ($3,700)

With fellow freshman back Shai McKenzie out for the year with a torn ACL, Williams could see a few more opportunities against the Tar Heels this week, and he's very cheap at this price. McKenzie had 53 carries prior to his injury, behind only Williams' 64, so a 15- or 20-carry game could be on the horizon for Williams as he faces a North Carolina defense that's getting killed against the run, giving up 10 rushing touchdowns in the first three weeks to Liberty, San Diego State and East Carolina.
