Good chance to start
September 16, 2020
Milton appears to be the leading candidate to open the season as Michigan's starting quarterback after Dylan McCaffrey announced Wednesday that he would opt out of the 2020 season and pursue a transfer, Zach Shaw of 247Sports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
McCaffrey entered training camp as the likely favorite to replace the departed Shea Patterson as Michigan's starting quarterback, but he reportedly fell behind Milton and redshirt freshman Cade McNamara in the competition for the top job before the Big Ten postponed its season in August. The Big Ten announced Wednesday that it would resume its season in late October, so Milton looks like he'll get the chance to play extensively for the first time in his collegiate career. The 6-foot-5, 243-pound signal-caller has completed six of 11 career pass attempts for 117 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions while also amassing 47 yards and two scores on the ground.
