Joining Nebraska
Not Injury Related
January 12, 2021
Stepp announced Tuesday via his personal Twitter account that he has committed to Nebraska, joining the program as a transfer from USC.
ANALYSIS
With Nebraska's lead back from 2020, Dedrick Mills, leaving school for NFL, Stepp should have ample opportunity to compete for the top spot on the depth chart as a redshirt junior in 2021, assuming the NCAA approves his request for a waiver that would allow him to compete right away. Heading into this past season, Stepp was listed as a co-starter on USC's depth chart with Vavae Malepeai, but the former ultimately saw his usage decline as the season went along while he also battled a turf toe injury and a strained pectoral. During his three years with the Trojans program, Stepp totaled 505 yards and six touchdowns on 100 carries to go with four receptions for 35 yards.
