Richardson announced Monday via his personal Twitter account that he'll forgo playing in Florida's Dec. 17 Las Vegas Bowl matchup with Oregon State to begin preparations for the 2023 NFL Draft.
ANALYSIS
While starting on a full-time basis for the first time in his career this past fall, the redshirt sophomore endured some ups and downs while guiding Florida to a 6-6 record, but his elite size (6-foot-4, 232 pounds), arm talent and athleticism should make him an intriguing prospect for NFL teams. Despite completing just 53.8 percent of his throws, Richardson still produced well from a fantasy perspective with 2,549 yards, 17 touchdowns and nine interceptions through the air to go with 654 yards and nine scores on 103 carries over his 12 appearances. With Richardson heading to the NFL and with top backup Jalen Kitna having recently been dismissed from the program, Florida will likely turn to third-stringer Jack Miller as their presumptive starter for the bowl game.

2022 Fantasy Outlook
It’s easy to see Richardson’s upside; running for 275 yards and two scores on 11 carries while throwing another two touchdowns in the first two weeks will do that. Not beating out Emory Jones and registering a 6.4 YPA and 4:5 TD:INT the rest of the way can necessitate some brake-pumping, though. Richarson enters 2022 as the starter for Billy Napier with a chance to prove his early 2021 success was no fluke. Richardson has a cannon arm and at 6-foot-4, 237 pounds, he can be a devastating force as a rusher. He should be drafted as a QB2, but there’s league-winner upside.
