Gunnell showed some promise with Arizona before deciding to transfer to Memphis. Then, he lost the quarterback battle for the Tigers to freshman Seth Henigan. As such, Gunnell has transferred again, this time to North Texas. However, he's not guaranteed anything. For starters, he still hasn't gotten a waiver to be immediately eligible for 2022. Secondly, both Austin Aune and Jace Ruder saw time under center for the Mean Green in 2021, and both are back. Gunnell couldn't beat out a freshman in Memphis. Can we feel confident he is going to secure the gig in Denton now?
