2023 Fantasy Outlook
After an overall dominant performance last season, Verstappen is expecting a repeat in 2023 after coming away with a Formula One record of 15 wins in a season and the undisputed title of World Champion. The RB18 proved to be no match for the rest of the grid as Verstappen repeatedly battled his way through the pack to finish first a whopping 65% of the time, earning 454 championship points by the conclusion of Abu Dhabi. The driver of the No. 1 Red Bull found no consistent competition with any of the other constructors and kept a firm grip on the championship standings following his only 2 DNFs of the season at Bahrain and Melbourne. Verstappen is truly the man to beat going into the 2023 season; drivers without a consistently reliable vehicle and discipline behind the wheel will find him an insurmountable opponent on track, unless Team Red Bull finds themselves facing a new, unforeseen challenge with the car this year. Runner-up Finish at Miami
Formula One
May 5, 2024
Verstappen finished second in the Miami Grand Prix Formula 1 race at Miami International Autodrome on Sunday afternoon.
ANALYSIS
Verstappen would look nearly human for the first time this season. He would lead from the lights out and control the pace until his lap 24 pit stop. Oscar Piastri would lead for a time, then Lando Norris would takeover. Verstappen would hope to cycle back into the lead but a lap 28 accident and safety car would provide a huge break for Norris. Verstappen would restart P2 on lap 32 but would be helpless with older tyres and would watch Norris drive away for the win. The Red Bull Racing star would still finish a respectable second-place but would obviously be annoyed with pace on medium tyres and problems with over steer.
