Fantasy Football Rankings Week 4: Weekly Value Meter

Welcome to the Weekly Value Meter Rankings. This is a guide to help you decide who to start and sit in a given week. It's is not a season-long ranking nor a draft guide, and it's also not really intended as a free agent guide. While I appreciate that you want my opinion on pickups, every league is different, and your decision on whether to add/drop a particular player might also be dictated by other factors than who is rated higher in a given week.

Here are my operating assumptions for the rankings:

- The RB/WR/TE position rankings are for PPR leagues.
- The Flex rankings are for Standard leagues.
- 1 point per 10 rushing/receiving yards.
- 1 point per 20 passing yards.
- 4 points per passing touchdowns.

These are the fantasy football rankings I use when I make my start/sit decisions. Please consult the rankings first before asking "Should I start Patrick Mahomes or Bryce Young?"

These are my particular rankings. If you want a second opinion elsewhere on the site, you can see our Weekly Projections.

Each week after Week 1, the first set of rankings will be posted late on Tuesday night. I will then do a set of updates before kickoff on Thursday, and again before kickoff on Sunday morning.

When setting your lineups, make sure to refer to the NFL inactives to ensure all of your players are set to receive snaps.

I welcome debate on the rankings in the comments. Please

Quarterbacks

1.Josh Allen BUF vs. NO
2.Lamar Jackson BAL at KC
3.*Jalen Hurts PHI at TB
Note: Hurts and the Eagles rediscovered the wonders of the forward pass in a game that they were trailing 26-7; let's see if they turn to it as more than a last resort this week.
4.*Justin Herbert LAC at NYG
Note: I never thought that I'd see a team coached by Jim Harbaugh and coordinated by Greg Roman have a game where the quarterback threw 47 passes, but Herbert is worthy of it.
5.*Baker Mayfield TB vs. PHI
Note: Mayfield's stat line was modest, but he was superb on Sunday against the Jets, overcoming an offensive line that was missing three starters and committed five holding penalties on the first drive alone. He might be getting Tristan Wirfs back this week, but he also lost Mike Evans to a hamstring injury.
6.Jordan Love GB at DAL
7.Caleb Williams CHI at LV
8.*Dak Prescott DAL vs. GB
Note: Prescott and the Cowboys will be without CeeDee Lamb (ankle) for 3-to-4 weeks, and his absence was noteworthy in Week 3 against the Bears.
9.Patrick Mahomes KC vs. BAL
10.*Jared Goff DET vs. CLE
Note: Goff's stat line (202 passing yards, one touchdown) doesn't do justice to how well Goff played on Monday night. The Lions just happened to get the payoff of multiple drives on the ground.
11.*Daniel Jones IND at LAR
Note: Jones connected on seven passes of at least 15 yards in the win over the Titans, once again averaging over nine yards per attempt.
12.Matthew Stafford LA vs. IND
13.Drake Maye NE vs. CAR
14.Geno Smith LV vs. CHI
15.Bo Nix DEN vs. CIN
16.Kyler Murray ARZ vs. SEA
17.*Marcus Mariota WAS at ATL
Note: Mariota was a top-10 fantasy quarterback last week, thanks to 40 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown to go along with 207 passing yards and another touchdown. Jayden Daniels (knee) is day-to-day this week.
18.*Mac Jones SF vs. JAX
Note: Jones aggravated a PCL strain in his left knee in the win over the Cardinals, and his mobility was clearly hampered in the second half of that game. Jones is day-to-day, and Brock Purdy will practice on Wednesday, so this might be it for Jones as a starter in the near-term.
19.Sam Darnold SEA at ARI
20.Trevor Lawrence JAC at SF
21.*Carson Wentz MIN at PIT
Note: Wentz will get the start again this week with J.J. McCarthy (ankle) already ruled out, and potentially beyond this week. Remember, the Vikings will play the next two weeks in Europe before having a bye in Week 6.
22.*Michael Penix ATL vs. WAS
Note: Mea culpa time - I was wrong about Penix last week, and even if had rated him 22nd or 26th, it still would have been too optimistic. Kirk Cousins replaced him late in the loss to Carolina, and the Falcons made some changes after the game, having their OC move down from the booth to the sideline, and firing their WR coach.
23.C.J. Stroud HOU vs. TEN
24.*Jake Browning CIN at DEN
Note: This was an ugly outing, but at least Browning goes from the Vikings on the road, to .... ugh, the Broncos on the road.
25.Tua Tagovailoa MIA vs. NYJ
26.*Bryce Young CAR at NE
Note: Young wasn't asked to do much in the win over the Falcons, instead benefitting from great field position, a defensive score, and Atlanta's general ineptitude.
27.*Jaxson Dart NYG vs. LAC
Note: Dart will get the start this week against the Chargers. I'd look for the Giants to call more RPO's, something they were already doing for a couple of plays.
28.Joe Flacco CLE at DET
29.Aaron Rodgers PIT vs. MIN
30.*Cam Ward TEN at HOU
Note: Ward's head coach Brian Callahan is going to step away from play-calling duties.
31.Tyrod Taylor NYJ at MIA
32.*Spencer Rattler NO at BUF
Note: Rattler was replaced late in garbage time against the Seahawks by Tyler Shough. Rattler had been serviceable in home matchups over the first two weeks, but Week 3 was a reminder that his job security is very low.
33.*Jayden Daniels WAS at ATL
Note: Daniels (knee) remains day-to-day, and his next injury update will come on Wednesday.
34.*Brock Purdy SF vs. JAX
Note: Purdy (toe) will resume practicing Wednesday and might be able to return this week. Meanwhile, Mac Jones has a PCL sprain in his left knee and is day-to-day in his own right.
35.*Tyler Shough NO at BUF
Note: Shough got a little bit of a run in garbage time against the Seahawks, and it serves as reminder that he'll probably get an extended look later this season.
36.Kirk Cousins ATL vs. WAS
37.*Russell Wilson NYG vs. LAC
Note: It's only Week 4 and Wilson has already been benched for Jaxson Dart.
38.*Justin Fields NYJ at MIA
Note: Jets coach Aaron Glenn said on Monday that he has no update on Fields (concussion).
39.*J.J. McCarthy MIN at PIT
Note: McCarthy (ankle) won't play in Week 4 against the Steelers in Dublin.

Running Backs

1.Christian McCaffrey SF vs. JAX
2.Bijan Robinson ATL vs. WAS
3.*Derrick Henry BAL at KC
Note: Henry now has fumbled in all three games this year. What's your level of concern with that, and his overall struggles the last two weeks?
4.James Cook BUF vs. NO
5.Jonathan Taylor IND at LAR
6.Jordan Mason MIN at PIT
7.Josh Jacobs GB at DAL
8.*Saquon Barkley PHI at TB
Note: Barkley struggled against the Rams, and it probably won't be much easier against the Bucs, especially if Lane Johnson (neck) can't play.
9.Jahmyr Gibbs DET vs. CLE
10.Bucky Irving TB vs. PHI
11.Kyren Williams LA vs. IND
12.De'Von Achane MIA vs. NYJ
13.Chuba Hubbard CAR at NE
14.Kenneth Walker SEA at ARI
15.*Omarion Hampton LAC at NYG
Note: Hampton is coming off of his best game and now will carry a much bigger workload, now that Najee Harris is out for the season. Hassan Haskins will be the backup.
16.Travis Etienne JAC at SF
17.J.K. Dobbins DEN vs. CIN
18.Quinshon Judkins CLE at DET
19.Alvin Kamara NO at BUF
20.Ashton Jeanty LV vs. CHI
21.Jaylen Warren PIT vs. MIN
22.David Montgomery DET vs. CLE
23.Javonte Williams DAL vs. GB
24.*Breece Hall NYJ at MIA
Note: Hall failed to get untracked against the Bucs. Some of that has to be attributed to the matchup, but also the absence of Justin Fields really hurt Hall's chances at finding rushing lanes.
25.D'Andre Swift CHI at LV
26.*Rhamondre Stevenson NE vs. CAR
Note: Just when we started to feel good about Stevenson, his fumble issues cropped up in a big way, with him losing fumbles twice in the loss to the Steelers. His only saving grace was that Antonio Gibson also fumbled, and TreVeyon Henderson couldn't get untracked while getting more work.
27.*Cam Skattebo NYG vs. LAC
Note: Skattebo is already ascendant, and now Tyrone Tracy will be out 2-to-4 weeks with a dislocated shoulder. Devin Singletary will be the backup.
28.*Chase Brown CIN at DEN
Note: Brown once again couldn't get untracked, and it doesn't get much easier this week at Denver.
29.Tony Pollard TEN at HOU
30.*Trey Benson ARZ vs. SEA
Note: With James Conner (foot) out for the season, it's now Benson's turn to step in as the starting back, with Emeri Demercado as the backup.
31.TreVeyon Henderson NE vs. CAR
32.Nick Chubb HOU vs. TEN
33.*Chris Rodriguez WAS at ATL
Note: Rodriguez went from being a healthy scratch the first two weeks to starting in Week 3 and leading the Commanders in carries - albeit with only 11 carries.
34.Kareem Hunt KC vs. BAL
35.Isiah Pacheco KC vs. BAL
36.Bhayshul Tuten JAC at SF
37.Ollie Gordon MIA vs. NYJ
38.Jacory Croskey-Merritt WAS at ATL
39.Tyler Allgeier ATL vs. WAS
40.*Blake Corum LA vs. IND
Note: Corum had another strong game as a change-of-pace back, carrying eight times for 53 yards.
41.Rachaad White TB vs. PHI
42.Brian Robinson SF vs. JAX
43.Woody Marks HOU vs. TEN
44.Jeremy McNichols WAS at ATL
45.Rico Dowdle CAR at NE
46.Braelon Allen NYJ at MIA
47.Jerome Ford CLE at DET
48.Miles Sanders DAL vs. GB
49.*RJ Harvey DEN vs. CIN
Note: Harvey was limited to five touches in the loss to the Chargers. It's possible that the game flow will work better for him this week with a home game against the Bengals.
50.Kenneth Gainwell PIT vs. MIN
51.*Kyle Monangai CHI at LV
Note: Monangai was limited to 16 yards on six carries, but at least it's clear he's the top backup behind Swift.
52.Ray Davis BUF vs. NO
53.*Dylan Sampson CLE at DET
Note: Sampson is clearly the third back for the Browns, getting just five offensive snaps.
54.*Devin Singletary NYG vs. LAC
Note: Singletary will have a bigger role with Tyrone Tracy (shoulder) out.
55.Justice Hill BAL at KC
56.Kendre Miller NO at BUF
57.Ty Johnson BUF vs. NO
58.*Samaje Perine CIN at DEN
Note: Perine suffered a thumb injury while fumbling during the Bengals' disastrous 2:00-drill, though it appears he avoided serious damage.
59.*Hassan Haskins LAC at NYG
Note: Haskins steps into the Chargers' backup role now that Najee Harris is out for the season.
60.Julius Chestnut TEN at HOU
61.DJ Giddens IND at LAR
62.Tahj Brooks CIN at DEN
63.Zamir White LV vs. CHI
64.AJ Dillon PHI at TB
65.Chris Brooks GB at DAL
66.Emari Demercado ARZ vs. SEA
67.Emanuel Wilson GB at DAL
68.LeQuint Allen JAC at SF

71.Isaiah Davis NYJ at MIA
72.Dare Ogunbowale HOU vs. TEN
73.Sean Tucker TB vs. PHI
74.Jaylen Wright MIA vs. NYJ
75.*Cam Akers at
Note: Akers played seven offensive snaps in garbage time against the Bengals. By rule he reverted back to the practice squad on Monday, but he'll probably be activated again this week.
76.*Zach Charbonnet SEA at ARI
Note: Charbonnet (foot) was listed as a full participant in Monday's estimated practice report after missing Sunday's game.
77.Will Shipley PHI at TB
78.*Tyrone Tracy NYG vs. LAC
Note: Tracy is out for 2-to-4 weeks with a dislocated shoulder.
79.*Najee Harris LAC at NYG
Note: Harris suffered a season-ending Achilles' injury on a non-contact play.
80.*James Conner ARZ vs. SEA
Note: Conner (foot) is out for the season and has been placed on IR.

Wide Receivers

1.Puka Nacua LA vs. IND
2.Jaxon Smith-Njigba SEA at ARI
3.Amon-Ra St. Brown DET vs. CLE
4.*Malik Nabers NYG vs. LAC
Note: Nabers briefly left Sunday night with a shoulder issue while breaking up a putative interception, but later returned. Now he has a new quarterback in Jaxson Dart throwing to him.
5.Justin Jefferson MIN at PIT
6.Nico Collins HOU vs. TEN
7.A.J. Brown PHI at TB
8.Ja'Marr Chase CIN at DEN
9.Garrett Wilson NYJ at MIA
10.Ladd McConkey LAC at NYG
11.Drake London ATL vs. WAS
12.Davante Adams LA vs. IND

14.Tyreek Hill MIA vs. NYJ
15.Keenan Allen LAC at NYG
16.Emeka Egbuka TB vs. PHI
17.Tetairoa McMillan CAR at NE

27.Jaylen Waddle MIA vs. NYJ
28.DeVonta Smith PHI at TB
29.Tee Higgins CIN at DEN
30.*DJ Moore CHI at LV

33.Jakobi Meyers LV vs. CHI
34.*Jameson Williams DET vs. CLE
Note: Williams caught two passes on the opening drive on Monday night, and none afterwards.

36.Jerry Jeudy CLE at DET
37.Quentin Johnston LAC at NYG
38.Chris Olave NO at BUF
39.Romeo Doubs GB at DAL
40.*Calvin Ridley TEN at HOU
Note: After rising up draft boards late in draft season, Ridley is *dropping* down the rankings now, with four drops in three games.
41.Wan'Dale Robinson NYG vs. LAC
42.Josh Downs IND at LAR
43.Calvin Austin PIT vs. MIN
44.Kayshon Boutte NE vs. CAR
45.Cedric Tillman CLE at DET
46.Darnell Mooney ATL vs. WAS
47.Rashid Shaheed NO at BUF
48.*Jordan Addison MIN at PIT
Note: Addison is back from his three-game suspension this week.
49.Elic Ayomanor TEN at HOU
50.*Jalen Tolbert DAL vs. GB
Note: Tolbert's role increases with CeeDee Lamb out, but it's a pretty tough matchup against the Packers.
51.*Tre Tucker LV vs. CHI
Note: I know this seems low after what happened last week, but to be honest, I need to see it again. I think it was just one of those confluences of schemes and matchups that worked for Tucker, and not something sustainable.

74.Jordan Whittington LA vs. IND
75.Luther Burden CHI at LV
76.DeAndre Hopkins BAL at KC
77.*Jayden Higgins HOU vs. TEN
Note: Higgins still isn't getting much of a target volume, and the return of Christian Kirk doesn't help him.
78.Tory Horton SEA at ARI
79.*Parker Washington JAC at SF
Note: Washington drew 11 targets in the win over the Texans, coming down with just four catches for 34 yards. With Dyami Brown (shoulder) banged up, that workload could continue this week.

100.*Chris Godwin TB vs. PHI

Note: Evans is expected to miss multiple weeks with a hamstring injury suffered late in the win over the Jets.
