2025 Fantasy Outlook
The Commanders hit it big when they signed Luvu and Bobby Wagner last offseason, immediately turning one of the league's worst LB groups into one of the best. Luvu was especially impressive, joining Wagner as a second-team All-Pro behind 99 tackles, including 8.0 sacks and seven pass defenses. He also had a hand in four turnovers, including two fumble recoveries, and he started all 17 games for a second consecutive year (having previously accomplished the feat for Carolina). While Wagner remains the favorite to lead the team in tackles, Luvu is a constant big-play threat in the middle of Washington's defense. Read Past Outlooks

Suspension
November 3, 2025
The NFL has suspended Luvu for one game for "repeated violations of playing rules intended to protect the health and safety of players," Brian McCarthy of NFL.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Luvu has been cited by the league for doing the banned hip-drop tackle three times this season, one of which occurred during Sunday's 38-14 loss to the Seahawks. He was fined for the two prior incidents before being suspended by the league Monday, but the veteran linebacker intends to appeal the suspension, per Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post. If Luvu's suspension is upheld, then Jordan Magee and Jacob Martin would be the top candidates to start against the Lions in Week 10.

2021
Luvu is a key piece of Washington's defensive makeover under new coach Dan Quinn, coming over from Carolina after his two seasons as a full-time starter yielded 236 tackles and 12.5 sacks. His background as an edge rusher has been evident in his massive pass-rushing production as a blitzing off-ball linebacker, and it now seems borderline criminal that Luvu spent the first four years of his career coming off the bench. That won't be an issue in Washington, though he'll probably only be the second- or third-leading tackler for a defense that also signed LB Bobby Wagner and S Jeremy Chinn this spring.
After never totaling more than 43 tackles in any of his first four pro seasons, Luvu enjoyed a breakout 2022 campaign. Despite missing two games, he registered 111 stops to go with seven sacks - both marks were second on the Panthers - and defended four passes, including a pick-six. In 2023, he faces a transition to new coordinator Ejiro Evero's 3-4 scheme, but Luvu is slated to start alongside Shaq Thompson at inside linebacker. Whether he can reproduce last year's success remains to be seen, but Luvu's stock nonetheless has never been higher.
Luvu appeared in 16 games for the Panthers last season, logging 43 tackles, 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble and three fumble recoveries. He then inked a two-year extension this offseason to maintain his role as a reserve linebacker.
Luvu posted a career-best 25 tackles in 13 games for the Jets last season. He'll hope to build on that total from a depth defensive and special-teams role with the Panthers in 2021.

On track for first Pro Bowl?
LBWashington Commanders
June 23, 2024
Coming off a career season, Luvu figures to be on track to earn a spot on the 2024 Pro Bowl roster for the first time in his career, Conor Orr of SI.com argues.
ANALYSIS
After splitting his snaps between defense and special teams over the first four years of his career, Luvu registered 100-plus tackles in each of the last two years as a full-time starter, including a career-high 125 tackles, along with 5.5 sacks, five pass deflections and two forced fumbles in 2023. Luvu signed a three-year, $36 million contract with the Commanders in March, and he will play alongside veteran Bobby Wagner at inside linebacker and under head coach Dan Quinn, who spent the last three seasons leading a dominant Cowboys defense as the defensive coordinator.
