2025 Fantasy Outlook
Walker enters the 2025 season in an interesting position, as the Packers declined the fifth-year option on his rookie contract but have stated they are open to signing him to an extension. His fit in the defense isn't exactly clear, however. Edgerrin Cooper displayed the potential as a rookie that the Packers were likely hoping for from Walker in the last three years. That could push the Packers toward moving on from him after the upcoming campaign. Even with some of those negatives, Walker has topped 100 tackles and two sacks in all three of his campaigns. Even if his future isn't in Green Bay for the long term, Walker should still be on the field in all early downs and oftentimes as a three-down linebacker in 2025. It's also possible he puts it all together in a late breakout, given how much is on the line for him in 2025. Read Past Outlooks
Placed on active/PUP list
The Packers placed Walker (undisclosed) on the active/PUP list Friday, Zach Jacobson of 247Sports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Despite racking up at least 100 tackles in each of his first three seasons as a pro, the 2022 first-round pick didn't have the fifth-year option on his rookie contract picked up by Green Bay this spring, meaning he's set to play out the 2025 campaign on an expiring deal. He'll also be contending with second-year pro Edgerrin Cooper at off-ball linebacker after the latter capped his rookie year with standout play down the stretch, featuring 42 tackles, including 1.0 sack, and one interception in five games between Week 15 and a wild-card loss at Philadelphia. Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reported Friday that Walker dealt with an injury during the offseason program, but once he proves his health, he'll be able to practice at any point during training camp, which officially kicks off for Packers veterans this coming Tuesday.

2022
Two seasons into his career, Walker has proven himself to be a strong tackler and run-stopper. He's also missed time in each campaign, as he was ejected from a pair of games in his rookie season before battling a shoulder injury that sidelined him for three games in 2024. With those growing pains out of the way, it should line up for year three to be Walker's true breakout. However, the addition of Edgerin Cooper in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft muddies Walker's playing time projection. The coaching staff has called the duo "interchangeable," though it's not time to panic just yet considering Cooper hasn't played a down as a pro.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Fifth-year option declined
The Packers have opted not to exercise Walker's fifth-year option, but the team is still interested in retaining him for the long term, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Walker was the 22nd overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft and has recorded over 100 total tackles in each of his first three regular seasons, despite missing seven contests over that span. Walker has also contributed 6.5 sacks, 12 defensed passes, including a pick-six, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery, but his fifth-year option would have been a hefty $14.751 million, leading Green Bay to try and take the contract-extension route instead.
