2019 Fantasy Outlook
The 15th overall pick in this year's draft, Haskins was unable to topple Case Keenum in a summer battle to get the Week 1 start for the Redskins. While Keenum's experience and poise offer at a certain floor, the 6-3 Haskins offers a much higher ceiling, largely because of his strong arm. Haskins showed excellent accuracy last season at Ohio State, completing 70.0 percent of his throws while leading the nation in passing yards (4,831) and touchdowns (50). The knock is that he's inexperienced with just one year in college as a starter, and also he lacks mobility (5.04 40). But Keenum is no great runner either, and both quarterbacks are in the same boat as far as learning coach Jay Gruden's offense. Haskins likely will play at some point, if only for the Redskins to find out what they have in the rookie. They'll both have to contend with a weak pass-catching group that's trying to get healthy, with Paul Richardson, Trey Quinn and Jordan Reed each coming off season-ending injuries. Josh Doctson is still around and still hasn't done much, but the team did at least use a third-round pick on Haskins' college teammate Terry McLaurin, who has 4.35 speed at 6-0, 208. Considering the lack of weapons, Haskins may spend a lot of time handing off to running backs Derrius Guice, Adrian Peterson and Chris Thompson. Read Past Outlooks

Delivers touchdown to end preseason
QBWashington Redskins
August 29, 2019
Haskins completed 10 of 17 passes for 104 yards and a touchdown during Thursday's 20-7 preseason loss to Baltimore.
Overall, it was a stagnant performance from Washington's depth offensive players, but Haskins still showed something for fans to look forward to, especially on a rollout at the end of the first quarter in which he turned his shoulders and delivered a strike to Steve Sims Jr. for a seven-yard score. The rookie has run hot and cold this preseason -- not nearly as surgical as he was at Ohio State -- but he's mostly avoided calamity while sprinkling in a few highlights each game. He figures to be the backup to start the season with the goal of giving him a red-shirt year, but the calls from fans to see the rookie quarterback in regular-season action likely aren't too far away.
