2023 Fantasy Outlook
Evan Engram busted out with 766 receiving yards and four touchdowns for Jacksonville last season and is back on the franchise tag, which gives Strange a chance to develop in a secondary role after being selected in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Strange is a strong blocker who also caught 32 passes for 362 yards and five touchdowns during his final collegiate campaign at Penn State. He's unlikely to be fantasy relevant as a rookie with Engram atop the depth chart -- tight ends rarely are immediately productive, anyway -- but Strange is likely viewed as more of a potential long-term solution. ANALYSIS
The rookie second-round pick's first year in the NFL wasn't a particularly notable one, as he worked as Jacksonville's No. 3 tight end. Both Evan Engram and Luke Farrell remain under contract in 2024, but the latter is primarily a blocking tight end. Given the draft capital used to acquire Strange, it wouldn't be a surprise to see him move into a larger role next year.
