Armstrong made the move from Dallas to Washington in 2024, following Commanders head coach Dan Quinn, and ended up starting 15 of the 16 regular-season games in which he played. That was more starts than he had during his six years with the Cowboys, but Armstrong's pass-rushing production - 5.0 sacks, 14 QB hits - was right in line with the numbers he'd put up in Dallas from 2021 to 2023 while mostly working off the bench. Armstrong was held out of practice all week due to a hamstring injury, but the Commanders have not ruled him out for Sunday's NFC East tilt just yet. In the event that Armstrong isn't cleared to play, Washington will turn to Eddie Goldman, Jer'Zhan Newton and Jalyn Holmes to fill in the gap at defensive end opposite Preston Smith.

He had at least five sacks and 12 QB hits each of the past three years under defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, who will now be Armstrong's head coach in Washington. The change in teams also figures to make Armstrong a starter, rather than coming off the bench behind Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence again. Armstrong's per-snap production from Dallas hints at double-digit-sack potential now with the upcoming workload increase.
