2025 Fantasy Outlook
Pacheco is an explosive running back when healthy, but that acknowledgment has always been made with some amount of trepidation given his cartoonishly violent running style. His motor always visibly runs at 110 percent, which is helpful in some situations but not others. It's sometimes useful and always entertaining when Pacheco simply berserks his way through a collision, but it would be more efficient to do a better job setting up blocks and eluding tacklers, rather than purely relying on his unusual combination of power and straight-line speed. The fibula fracture Pacheco suffered Week 2 basically ended his 2024 season, because he was a shell of his former self when he returned after an 11-week absence, averaging 3.4 YPC on 62 carries in eight games between the end of the regular season and the playoffs. Kareem Hunt is not particularly close to Pacheco's level when both are at full strength, but even the largely expired journeyman was better than Pacheco down the stretch last season. A return to full strength this offseason could allow for the breakout that fantasy investors had hoped for in 2024, but it's also possible Pacheco missed out on his chance to be deployed as a workhorse and/or fails to regain his pre-injury explosiveness. RANKS
First rushing touchdown of season
Pacheco rushed the ball 15 times for 57 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 31-0 win over the Raiders. He added one reception on two targets for minus-3 yards.
ANALYSIS
Pacheco logged a season high in both rush attempts and rushing yards. He still wasn't particularly efficient, though he did manage three rushes of seven yards -- one of which went for his first touchdown of the season. Kareem Hunt was beat up during the game, which could have propped up Pacheco's volume. While Hunt was able to return, it will be worth monitoring his status for a Week 8 matchup against the Commanders, as Pacheco could be in for a larger workload.

The Chiefs are careful to consistently invest in their offensive line, allowing them to provide consistently good blocking and a favorable setup for whoever is playing running back. Even so, Pacheco has proven a uniquely good fit for the Chiefs offense since they stole him out of Rutgers in the seventh round of the 2022 Draft. His 4.37 speed makes him a home-run threat, and his violent, high-motor running presents a challenging power component to defenses that are already spread thin by QB Patrick Mahomes. Pacheco's violent running does come with long-term durability concerns, especially wear-and-tear ailments like the shoulder trouble he played through in 2023, though injuries have cost him only two games through two seasons. He can handle every running back task and improved his passing-down work last year, eventually taking at least 70 percent of snaps in each of Kansas City's four playoff contests. His workloads typically haven't been that large during the regular season, but it's not out of the question for 2024 after the Chiefs settled for bringing back Clyde Edwards-Helaire in free agency and then added Samaje Perine shortly before the start of the season.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Regains playing weight
Pacheco has regained muscle that he lost during the 2024 season when he was rehabbing a leg injury, Jesse Newell of the Kansas City Star reports.
ANALYSIS
Pacheco missed the majority of the regular season in 2024 with a broken fibula. While he managed to return in Week 13, he averaged only 3.4 yards per carry and fell into a rotational role in eight combined regular-season and playoff games. Pacheco is now seemingly back to full strength and should have a strong chance of regaining the lead-back role in Kansas City.
