2025 Fantasy Outlook
After a slow-simmering rookie year, Campbell took the sophomore leap that should be expected from a 2023 first-round pick. His snap count jumped to 907 last season, nearing a full-time role. More important, he showed some improvement in coverage, became a more consistent tackler and was generally a more disruptive presence. Despite those positives, expecting another step forward and even a repeat of his 2024 season could be a mistake. Campbell began last year in a part-time role, but that grew as injuries piled up in Detroit's linebacker corps. With Malcolm Rodriguez and Derrick Barnes both expected to be healthy this season, the Lions should have the depth to rotate in their linebacker corps once again. Campbell has proven himself, just keep expectations for another leap in check. Read Past Outlooks

Campbell (ankle) was a full participant in Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Campbell didn't practice Wednesday due to an ankle injury, but his full participation Thursday suggests he should be good to go for Sunday's home game against the Bears. The starting middle linebacker led Detroit with nine tackles (five solo) in the Lions' Week 1 loss to Green Bay.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
Campbell racked up 95 tackles (52 solo), including 2.0 sacks, while also intercepting a pass over 17 games with the Lions in his rookie campaign. The linebacker saw an early boost in playing time last season when James Houston went down with a fractured ankle in Week 2, sidelining him for the remainder of the regular season. It's unlikely that a healthy Houston will impact Campbell's playing time in 2024, though, and the 2023 first-round pick seems set to start alongside Alex Anzalone and Derrick Barnes in coordinator Aaron Glenn's defense again this year.
Campbell joins the fold in Detroit and figures to see plenty of playing time before long, especially within an organization that gave a sixth-round rookie in Malcolm Rodriguez more than half of the defensive snaps from the get-go last year. However, even if Campbell can quickly supplant Rodriguez as the second linebacker behind Alex Anzalone, it's fair to wonder if both he and his new mentor can co-exist as significant IDP contributors.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could shift into middle
LBDetroit Lions
May 27, 2024
Campbell was referred to as a middle linebacker by Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn during OTAs last week, Colton Pouncy of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The 18th overall pick in the 2023 Draft, Campbell mostly played an off-ball role as a rookie and recorded 95 tackles over 17 games. Veteran Alex Anzalone has handled duties in the middle over the last two seasons and produced 125 tackles or more in each campaign, but Detroit would seem to prefer having the younger and more athletic Campbell in that role in 2024, potentially setting the Iowa product up for a breakout season.
