2018–19 Fantasy Outlook
2016 was a banner year for McGirt as he picked up his first win on the PGA Tour and smashed the $3 million barrier. While is was an impressive season, his other seven seasons on the PGA Tour has not resembled it in any way. Since a rough rookie season in 2012, McGirt has managed to play at a high enough level to retain his playing privileges every season, but outside his 2016 season, he's failed to earn more than $1.3 million. The $3.6 million season was obviously a fluke, which puts his upside right around $1.3 million. With that in mind, McGirt is not a good option in salary cap leagues this season. Read Past Outlooks

June 11, 2019
McGirt (shoulder/hip) could get back on the course at some point in July, according to PGATour.com.
McGirt has not played since undergoing surgery on his injuries last year, but he will have a chance to get back on the course soon. Regardless, he will likely earn a Major Medical Extension for the 2019-20 season.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
It felt like McGirt had a really good season last year, mostly because he was in the mix early at some big events, but his year on the whole was just kind of blah. McGirt recorded only three top-10s last season and his best finish was a T3 at the RBC Heritage. This after a spectacular season the year prior where he earned more than $3 million and recorded not only a win, but a runner-up showing as well. McGirt has spent seven full seasons on the PGA Tour and the clear outlier is the $3 million season, so it's hard to explain what exactly happened that year. McGirt is a guy with upside, so there's reason to consider him for salary cap leagues, but the odds say he'll end up right about where he left off last season.
In his five years on the PGA Tour, McGirt had never finished better than 50th on the FedEx Cup list and he'd never earned more than $1.275 million….then last year happened. To say his performance from last season came out of nowhere is an understatement. Not only did McGirt pick-up his first win, but he also earned seven top-10s (he averaged less than two per year coming into the season), and 13 top-25s (he averaged six per season prior to last year). McGirt obviously outplayed expectations last season, which means he can't be considered for a salary cap selection this year. in drafts, he should go in the third or fourth round.
McGirt has been on the PGA Tour for four years and we still have no idea what kind of player he is. His rookie year was a struggle, his sophomore year was better. His third year he regressed, his fourth year he showed signs of improvement. Does he continue the pattern and regress after having success last season? Even if he doesn't, it's hard to imagine he improves much off of what was a pretty good season in 2014. As such, he's not a good salary cap option this season. In draft leagues he should go around the 10th round.
After a solid 2012 season which saw McGirt top $1 million in earnings, McGirt regressed in 2013. It's tough to tell if McGirt will rebound in 2014, but considering his ceiling right now is just above the $1 million mark, he's probably not worth the risk in salary cap leagues this year. In draft leagues he should go in the range of 90-100.
McGirt's second go-round on the PGA TOUR was much better than his first. McGirt's first try ended up in a trip to Q-school, but he was having none of that last year as he collected paychecks in eight of his first 10 events. That, however, wasn't quite enough to get him over the hump until a runner-up finish at the RBC Canadian Open sealed his card for the 2013 season. Last year was only McGirt's second season on the PGA TOUR, so this could be just the beginning for him. At this stage in his career, though, it's probably better to pass on him in salary cap leagues. In draft leagues, he's a seventh- or eighth-round selection.
