Wie has been invited to play in next week's Sony Open in Hawaii.

Wie plans to enroll at Stanford University next fall, Reuters reports.

Wie has been given a sponsor's exemption to play again in the Sony Open on the PGA Tour next January.

With no chance to make the cut and in obvious discomfort for most of her round, Wie's disappointing run at the John Deere Classic ended nine holes early Friday with a trip to the hospital due to heat exhaustion.

Wie made the cut at the Asian Tour's SK Telecom Open, where she's in 17th place after a 3-under-par 69 on Friday. It was the first cut she's made in a professional men's golf tournament.
