2025 Fantasy Outlook
It was a pivotal year for Tarasov's NHL future, and he didn't rise to the challenge in 2024-25. The 26-year-old netminder went 7-10-2 with a 3.55 GAA and an .880 save percentage over 20 games. The numbers were just one part of the story -- Tarasov also lost opportunities to Jet Greaves at times throughout 2024-25, and Greaves' surge late in the season could leave a lasting impression. All this led to the Jackets' decision to trade Tarasov away to the Panthers this offseason. Tarasov turned aside 15 shots in regulation and overtime and one of three shootout attempts in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to Anaheim.
ANALYSIS
The Panthers outshot the Ducks 33-17 through 65 minutes, but Tarasov couldn't do much on either puck that got past him. Leo Carlsson's shorthanded goal came on a defensive zone breakdown by Florida, and there wasn't much anyone could have done to stop Cutter Gauthier's blistering one-timer on the power play. Tarasov is still looking for his first win with the Panthers, going 0-2-1 in three starts with a 2.64 GAA and an .886 save percentage. His opportunities to play this season will likely remain limited behind Sergei Bobrovsky.

Tarasov started 2023-24 slowly, but between Feb. 21 and March 19, he registered an excellent .934 save percentage and a 2.30 GAA in nine games. He performed well despite the ongoing drama in the room and defense with more holes than Swiss cheese. Tarasov has shown he deserves the starter's role, and he could earn that position due to Elvis Merzlikins' deteriorating play. The 25-year-old Tarasov must stay healthy, but that's a refrain heard from many nets in the NHL. At a minimum, he will be the strong side of a platoon and deliver slightly above-average netminding, but issues with consistency and the team in front of him could drag down his fantasy appeal
