Returned to minors
Tokarski was reassigned to AHL Chicago on Friday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Tokarski will head back to the minors now that Frederik Andersen (knee) has been activated off injured reserve. During his NHL stint, the 35-year-old Tokarski went 4-2-0 with a 2.18 GAA, .902 save percentage and one shutout. At this point, Tokarski figures to spend the rest of the campaign with the Wolves but will be brought back up should an injury need arise.

Once training camp opens, Tokarski, 28, will be locked in a three-way battle for the backup job behind the undisputed starter, Henrik Lundqvist. In a fantasy sense, best to steer clear of the Saskatchewan native, who is likely to split time between the NHL and AHL this upcoming season.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

In starter's crease
Tokarski was working in the starter's crease Thursday, Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia reports, indicating he'll be in goal at home versus Buffalo.
ANALYSIS
Tokarski looks set to get the starting nod, but presumptive No. 1 Linus Ullmark was also on the ice for Thursday's training camp session. Barring an injury to another netminder, the 35-year-old Tokarski is a near lock to head down to AHL Belleville for the upcoming season. Even if the backstop does manage to earn an Opening Night roster spot, he figures to see minimal usage as the No. 2 option in Ottawa.
