Marcus Sorensen
Marcus Sorensen
26-Year-Old Right WingRW
San Jose Sharks
2018 Fantasy Outlook
Sorensen only appeared in 32 games with the Sharks in 2017-18, totaling five goals and seven assists while averaging just 10:09 of ice time over that span. The 26-year-old winger was impressive in the playoffs, racking up four goals and five points in 10 contests, but there's no reason to expect that success will carry over into the 2018-19 regular season. Sorensen's lack of offensive production and minor role in San Jose will once again keep him off the radar in all but the deepest of season-long fantasy formats. Read Past Outlooks

Inks new deal with Sharks
RWSan Jose Sharks
January 14, 2019
Sorensen signed a two-year extension with San Jose on Monday, Pierre LeBrun of TSN reports.
ANALYSIS
The new deal carries an annual cap hit of $1.5 million and locks up the 26-year-old Swede through the 2020-21 season. So far in 2018-19, Sorensen has posted 15 points in 47 games and is coming off a season-high 16:20 of ice time in San Jose's last game. Clearly impressed with Sorensen's play to this point in the season, San Jose's front office staff felt the time was right to reward him with this extension.

2017 Fantasy Outlook
Transitioning from European hockey to the North American landscape has been a relatively seamless process for Sorensen, who the Sharks nabbed in the fourth round (106th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He appeared in 43 games with the AHL's San Jose Barracuda last season, accumulating 17 goals and 17 assists to mirror the offensive output he had with Djurgardens IF of the Swedish Hockey League in 2015-16. Evidently confident in his abilities, the Sharks unleashed Sorensen for 19 regular-season contests and the winger kicked in two points in six games in the 2017 Stanley Cup playoffs -- despite averaging fewer than 11 minutes per affair. Since the Sharks share a rink with their minor-league affiliate, temper expectations for Sorensen as he's likely to shuffle between the NHL and AHL a fair amount in the upcoming season.
