Max Comtois

During the 2022-23 campaign, Comtois was a solid fourth-line option for Anaheim, but not much more, contributing nine goals, 19 points, 76 PIM, 81 hits and 27 blocked shots in 64 contests. If that's the kind of player the 24-year-old is going forward, then he will still find work at the NHL level, but there might be another level to his game. Comtois was taken with the No. 50 overall pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft and showed plenty of offensive promise during his stints in the QMJHL and AHL. He also recorded 16 goals and 33 points in 55 outings with Anaheim in 2020-21, but he hasn't been able to replicate that level of success. After two straight lukewarm campaigns, he's not a safe bet to breakout, but it will be interesting to see what he does in 2023-24. He remained unsigned deep into August after he ended last season sidelined by an upper-body injury, so he may need a tryout to get back on the NHL radar.
